Position Overview:
As an Intermediate Piping Engineer at Equinox Engineering, you will play a key role in delivering engineering solutions across multi-disciplinary projects. You will be responsible for carrying out piping design, preparing engineering documentation and design implementation while working closely with project managers, designers, and other engineering disciplines. What You'll Do
As an Intermediate Piping Engineer, you will contribute to the delivery of safe, efficient, and code-compliant piping systems. Your role will include:

Piping Design & Engineering
Develop and review piping designs, specifications, and engineering deliverables in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements
Perform piping studies and support material selection for piping systems
Coordinate piping stress requirements with stress engineering teams
Review and check engineering drawings, including P&IDs, isometrics, and 3D models
Prepare key documentation including line lists, piping specifications, and material requisitions

Coordination & Team Collaboration
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including process, mechanical, civil, electrical, and instrumentation
Coordinate with drafting teams to develop and review 3D models and design drawings
Participate in design and model reviews and incorporate feedback from senior engineers
Communicate effectively with internal teams, vendors, and clients

Project Execution & Delivery
Support delivery of piping deliverables aligned with project scope, schedule, and quality requirements
Prepare material take-offs (MTOs), technical documentation, and work packages
Assist with procurement activities including vendor data reviews and technical bid evaluations
Evaluate vendor proposals and support preparation of technical bid evaluation reports
Participate in project planning, scheduling, and progress reporting
Contribute to cost estimates, technical proposals, and project documentation such as design basis memorandums (DBMs)

Construction & Field Support
Provide support during construction, including responses to RFIs and technical queries
Participate in site visits, inspections, and client meetings as required
Support vendor coordination and review of vendor documentation to ensure integration with overall systems
Ensure designs are practical, constructible, and aligned with project requirements

Safety, Quality & Compliance
Follow engineering quality processes and support verification practices
Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, and relevant Australian standards)
Demonstrate commitment to safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements

About You
You are an experienced piping engineer who enjoys practical design work, taking ownership of deliverables, and collaborating within multidisciplinary teams. You bring:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (required)
Registration or eligibility with Engineers Australia (or equivalent)
5-8 years of piping engineering experience in oil and gas, energy, or related industries
EPCM or consulting experience preferred
Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Technical Foundation
Strong understanding of piping systems, layouts, and equipment integration
Experience working with P&IDs, isometric drawings, and piping layouts
Familiarity with materials selection, fabrication, and installation practices
Working knowledge of relevant international and Australian codes and standards (ASME, API, AS)
Exposure to piping stress analysis coordination

Software Proficiency
Experience with piping design and 3D modeling tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Plant 3D, CADWorx, or equivalent)
Familiarity with Navisworks or similar model review tools
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office tools
