THE POSITION:
To provide assistance with water, sewer and stormwater construction and maintenance work as directed, including assisting with general works as required. To develop skills to operate various forms of plant including trucks and earthmoving equipment.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
- Based on a 38 hour week, with actual days and times being 7.00am to 4.00pm (these times may vary due to operational requirements), Monday to Friday, with an RDO in accordance with AlburyCity's RDO guidelines.
- After a qualifying period of time, this position will be required to be on call to attend any emergency and/or breakdowns within the Hydraulics Section on a roster basis. Payment for this will be accordance with the AlburyCity Essential Services Agreement.
- You will be required to enroll and study towards a Certificate III in Plumbing as part of the apprenticeship. The study component of the course will be primarily completed outside the standard working hours of the position.
- This position is a formal apprenticeship and is regulated by the Apprenticeship & Traineeship Act 2001. Applicants with equivalent plumbing qualification are ineligible to apply. For further clarification, please contact the Human Resources Team on 02 6023 8700.
- This position is temporary for a period of up to 4 years.
- This position requires you to wear a compulsory uniform as per AlburyCity's Our People Dress Code Standards. Our People are required to present a smart and professional image to the public at all times including when in public and when working remotely.
- This position involves working in a predominantly outdoor environment where a varying range of temperatures, weather conditions and walking surfaces may be experienced. The position requires a moderate level of aerobic and physical fitness to undertake regular physical activities such as walking, lifting, pulling, pushing along with the capacity to maintain normal manual handling tasks across the work day - depending on the nature of the tasks undertaken. The use of relevant work method statements and appropriate WHS standards are an integral part of the role. A full functional and medical assessment is required for this position.
- This position will be provided with vaccination against the following infectious diseases:

- This position is subject to alcohol and other drug testing.
- This position is subject to pre-employment and ongoing respiratory function testing for potential occupational exposure to asbestos or other hazardous dusts in accordance with AlburyCity procedures.
- This position is located at the Albury/Lavington Depots, with daily visits to external sites/depots, and AlburyCity Administration Building as required.
ALBURYCITY APPRENTICE CRITERIA:
To be considered eligible for this position:
- An applicant must not have 50% or more of the identified qualification or a similar or a higher industry qualification completed.
- The recruitment of an AlburyCity Apprentice is based on the assumption of no/limited industry skills or knowledge and is not based on age.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Class C (standard) Driver's Licence or Provisional Licence (Compulsory to have and maintain)
- Minimum completion of Year 10
DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
- Construction Induction Card
SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- General interest in water and wastewater operations
- Understanding of safe work practices
- Fundamental literacy skills in receiving and executing instructions
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under direction, assist in the following:
- Carry out assigned works in the maintenance and construction of water, sewer and storm water infrastructure.
- Record keeping for water and sewer systems, including scheduled maintenance records and management systems.
- Operate plant and equipment.
- Maintain plant in a clean and serviceable condition.
- Ensure all routine plant maintenance and weekly service reports are completed.
- Provide advice to the public in a polite and effective manner.
- Landscaping and reinstatement works.
- Other general labouring duties as required.
- Perform other tasks or duties as directed by the Supervisor which are within the limits of the employee's skill, competence and training.
- Observe requirements of the WHS Legislation, relevant to the job and adhere to AlburyCity Policies and Procedures regarding WHS.
