**About the Role**As an ANZ Background Check Specialist, you will play a critical role in safeguarding Uber's platform and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards. You will be responsible for reviewing and adjudicating Background Checks (BGCs) for earners, with a focus on processing cases involving criminal record documentation. Using an internal decision matrix, and direct communication with key stakeholders, you will determine eligibility outcomes while balancing regulatory obligations, privacy requirements, and business needs.## **What You'll Do**1. Review and adjudicate BGCs for offenses, applying Uber's decision matrix consistently and fairly.2. Process criminal record documentation and determine eligibility outcomes for earners3. Partner closely with Legal, Ops, and Identity teams to ensure decisions are robust, compliant, and defensible.4. Maintain a high level of accuracy and consistency in decision-making, recognising the sensitivity of cases impacting both safety and compliance.5. Identify trends, recurring offences, and process bottlenecks, and provide insights that help refine our decision matrix and operational workflows.6. Support continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring Uber meets its regulatory obligations while delivering a seamless experience for earners.7. Supporting compliant onboarding and deactivation processes**Basic Qualifications:**1. **Strong attention to detail** **-** accuracy is essential when reviewing sensitive criminal record information.2. **Strong problem-solving skills -** ability to assess complex cases and apply policies consistently.3. **Excellent comprehension skills -** (active listening and reading) to understand case context and nuances in documentation.4. **Excellent written and verbal communication skills -** to document decisions clearly and collaborate with stakeholders.5. **Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment** \- while also thriving as part of a tight-knit, high-trust team.6. **Stakeholder management skills** \- with the ability to build credibility and influence across multiple teams.7. **Organised and self-driven -** with the capacity to manage a high workload and competing priorities.8. **Executional rigor -** commitment to accuracy, process compliance, and defensible decision making.**Preferred Qualifications:**1. Experience in compliance, risk, background checks, legal operations, or safety-related roles.2. Familiarity with Uber tools and processes.3.
