About the Project
EnerMech ME&I is supporting a major Sydney Metro rail infrastructure project, delivering critical electrical services across a live corridor.
This is a long-term, project-specific opportunity (18+ months) supporting works across multiple active sites along the rail alignment, requiring strong coordination and adherence to strict rail safety and electrical isolation protocols.
About the Role
We are seeking experienced Permit Control Officers (PCO) - LV/HV and Authorised Isolators to join a dedicated electrical access team.
This role will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of complex LV and HV isolations, including HV switching activities and working within a structured Permit to Work system in a rail environment.
The successful candidates will work as part of a broader, multi-disciplinary delivery team, supporting safe access across multiple work fronts.
Key Responsibilities
Administer and control the Permit to Work (PTW) system across LV and HV electrical works
Plan, develop, and execute switching programs and isolation plans (LV & HV)
Perform duties as an Authorised Isolator, including isolation, locking, tagging, and proving de-energisation
Undertake HV switching operations on AC rail power distribution systems (including HV networks such as 11kV/33kV)
Safely test for dead and prove isolation prior to issuing permits
Interface directly with the Network Control Officer (NCO) and key project stakeholders
Coordinate isolations across multiple concurrent work sites along the rail corridor
Issue, suspend, and cancel permits in accordance with site and rail authority procedures
Maintain accurate records of permits, switching logs, and isolation documentation
Ensure compliance with Sydney Metro standards, electrical safety legislation, and project requirements
Participate in daily pre-starts, risk assessments, and safety briefings
About You
Proven experience in PCO, HV/LV isolation, or HV switching roles within rail or heavy industry environments
Strong understanding of Permit to Work systems and high-risk work controls
Demonstrated capability in complex switching, isolation planning, and execution
Confident working across multiple work fronts in a high-compliance environment
Strong communication skills with experience liaising with control authorities and site teams
High-level commitment to safety, compliance, and procedural discipline
Required Qualifications & Tickets
Electrical Trade Qualification
Current NSW Electrical Licence (mandatory except in limited circumstances)
Experience operating as a Permit Control Officer (PCO) - LV/HV
HV Switching competency (rail or industry equivalent will be considered)
Authorised Isolator certification / experience
Ability to develop and execute switching programs
Demonstrated experience in testing for dead / proving isolation
Current White Card
RIW Card (Rail Industry Worker) - required
Ability to obtain and complete Sydney Metro project-specific inductions
. First aid in an ESI environment, Safe Access the Rail Corridor and LVR/CPR.

Work Conditions
Full-time role - Monday to Friday, 10-hour day shift works
potential weekend and night shift work opportunities
Possible on-call requirements as the project progresses
