It caters for children and young people who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from mainstream education. The students referred to Waranara have a history and/or ongoing experience of trauma and their needs are complex and diverse; self-regulation is difficult for our students and this can result in challenging social and emotional behaviours. ABOUT THE ROLE The Student Wellbeing Advisor will implement, across the school a trauma-informed model of education that promotes unconditional positive regard for young people with complex and diverse needs. The Student Wellbeing Advisor will work collaboratively and provide expert wellbeing support for the students at the school. ______________________________________________ This is a Full-Time, fixed-term opportunity (38 hours per week), based at Special Assistance School NSW - MacKillop Education Waranara School. ______________________________________________ KEY SELECTION CRITERIA: To be successful in this role you will have: A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families. Have a proven capacity for innovation and a commitment to excellence Demonstrated ability to develop and implement wellbeing support to meet the needs of students with complex needs; including an understanding of the impact of trauma and its effect on the capacity of young people to engage with education and learning Understanding of the interface between the education and welfare/community service sectors You must have a: Valid and current Driver's Licence; Satisfactory Criminal History Check; Valid Employee Working with Children Check; Please address the full Key Selection Criteria outlined in the PD as part of your application.
