Nepean Hospital is a teaching hospital that provides tertiary referral services in emergency care, coronary care, diagnostics, gynaecology, paediatric, neonatal intensive care/ICU, maternity, mental health, rehabilitation, and surgery. Nepean Hospital is seeking a Senior Data Quality Analyst to provide district wide leadership in data stewardship, quality management and analytics for the NonAdmitted Patient and Supplementary Service (NAPSS) Data Collection and Health Establishment Registration Online (HERO) system across NBMLHD. The role ensures accurate system configuration, standardised data capture, high quality submissions and robust data assurance processes to meet NSW Health reporting, funding and compliance requirements, while delivering expert advice to senior stakeholders on data standards, policy and service configuration.

Acting as the designated data steward under the delegated authority of the Data Custodian, you will lead operational oversight of NAPSS and HERO, drive data quality monitoring and continuous improvement, and deliver education to strengthen workforce capability. You will also support data governance and integration across clinical and corporate systems, contribute to mandatory submissions and reporting, and lead investigations across related datasets including Client, ISP, Admitted Patient, Emergency Department and SNAP to ensure accurate, reliable and fit-for-purpose health information.

What you will bring to the role

  1. Demonstrated advanced knowledge of data captured within major NSW Health information systems, including patient administration systems, data warehouses, and source systems supporting non admitted patient activity. A current Drivers Licence and willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position is required.
  2. Demonstrated expert understanding of Ministry of Health NAPSS and HERO data collection policies, governance frameworks and reporting obligations, with the ability to interpret, apply and enforce complex business rules, activity definitions, data standards and system workflows to support consistent and compliant data capture across a Local Health District.
  3. Demonstrated experience providing senior data governance and stewardship within complex health information environments, including defining and enforcing data quality standards, overseeing data validation and assurance processes, identifying and remediating systemic data integrity risks. Supporting the production of accurate, reliable and auditable activity, performance and management reports to support executive accountability and decision making.
  4. Demonstrated leadership and sound professional judgement, with the ability to influence and build data quality capability across multidisciplinary teams; manage competing priorities; and uphold high standards of data integrity and compliance in a complex, high volume and time critical environment.
  5. Highly developed analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to investigate complex data quality issues, assess system and process risks, identify root causes, and implement sustainable governance, system or process solutions that protect organisational data integrity and funding assurance.
  6. Highly effective written and verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary consultations, influence senior stakeholders, negotiate data governance outcomes, and provide authoritative advice on data quality, compliance and reporting obligations.
  7. High level proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, demonstrated ability to analyse, validate, interpret and present data quality findings clearly. Experience using data query tools or databases (e.g. SQL) to support data quality assurance activities is desirable.
  8. Demonstrated experience leading and managing multiple concurrent data governance, quality or assurance work programs or initiatives in a complex environment, with proven ability to prioritise risk based work and meet performance targets, reporting deadlines and statutory obligations.
