The NSW Ministry of Health's Centre for Epidemiology and Evidence is pleased to announce a temporary opportunity to join the Health Indicators and Digital Communications team as a Senior Biostatistician.

The role will support the design, curation, interpretation, quality control, visualisation and effective communication of health indicators and statistical information published on HealthStats NSW and online web reports.

  • Full time, temporary until 19 March 2027

  • Clerk Grade 9/10

  • 35 hour working week, in a hybrid working environment with a minimum of 3 days per week working from the NSW Health office, St Leonards

Essential requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in epidemiology, biostatistics or equivalent

  • Sound knowledge of health data and the NSW (or Australian) health system

  • Experience in the use of data management and statistical analysis software, including proficiency in R or similar programming languages. Demonstrated capability to learn new tools / software

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills

  • Demonstrated capability in digital communication, including effectively presenting insights and information through digital platforms, reporting tools, and data visualisations

  • High level knowledge of analytical concepts and methods, substantial experience in the use of the associated statistical, data management, and knowledge of databases and software quality principles
