About the role:
The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) - Palliative Care plays a key role in developing and supporting the nursing workforce to deliver safe, compassionate and evidence-based care to patients and families receiving palliative care services. The CNE is responsible for identifying learning needs, developing and delivering education programs, supporting clinical competency assessment and promoting professional development across the service.
You won't be working alone. You'll be supported by the Nurse Unit Manager, Clinical Nurse Consultants and the broader Nursing & Midwifery Education team to establish role priorities and professional development goals. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced clinician who is passionate about education, workforce development and improving outcomes for patients with life-limiting illness and their families.
Key responsibilities:
- Planning and co-ordination of all aspects of clinical teaching and education in the Palliative Care Unit.
- Contribute to the development of colleagues and identify learning needs
- Supervise the rotation of students
- Support the orientation of new staff to Tamworth Hospital and provide orientation relevant to their level of expertise.
- Provide day to day clinical education support and clinical supervision at the point of care
- Provide 1:1 informal education
- Provide support for skill development in clinical procedures, professional development, clinical policy development and an in-service program for
- Implement and evaluate education programs
As our new CNE, you will:
- Demonstrate confidence in their contemporary palliative care knowledge, a passion for education and workforce development, and the ability to build strong relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
- Showcase your excellent communication skills, sound clinical judgement, compassion, professionalism and a commitment to evidence-based practice and patient-centred care.
- Be a true collaborator who enjoys being part of a team and working with others to contribute to the goals of the team.
- Articulate thoughts clearly, listen actively, and engage in meaningful conversations that enhance the patient experience and improve team dynamics.
Essential criteria:
Current Registered Nurse with AHPRA plus relevant clinical or education post registration qualifications and clinical experience.
