About the Opportunity
Are you an emerging finance professional looking to launch your career in a supportive, purpose-driven organisation? Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) has an exciting opportunity for a Finance Officer to join our Finance and Performance Branch.
This position is intended to build the capability of emerging finance professionals while supporting succession planning within the organisation. The role includes substantial involvement with Ministry led projects, salary packaging, financial reporting & other core accounting duties.
Key Responsibilities
In this role you will:
- Provide financial accounting services to ensure organisational objectives are met
- Prepare and process monthly journals in the General Ledger (Oracle) and other NSW Health systems
- Deliver financial reporting and analysis support to Business Managers across MLHD Clinical Operations, Clinical Streams and Clinical Governance Units
- Assist financial accounting staff in resolving issues and implementing agreed actions
- Liaise with and support external auditors during financial statement audits
- Help implement financial management information systems to ensure quality, timely and accurate reporting

About You
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Accounting Qualification - Recently completed or significantly completed a university qualification in Accounting, Business or Commerce (majoring in accounting)
- Time Management - Excellent ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Initiative and Problem-Solving - Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to work unsupervised and take initiative
- Technology Competency - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to quickly learn new systems and programs
- Communication Skills - Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders
- Team Player - A collaborative, can-do attitude and willingness to work in a busy finance environment
