Cybersecurity Specialist, OT
A Snapshot
AirTrunk is seeking an experienced OT Security Engineer to help uplift the organisation's operational technology (OT) cybersecurity maturity across our hyperscale data centre (DC) portfolio. This role sits within the Cybersecurity team and works closely with internal stakeholders, engineering teams, facility operations, construction, and our regional DC sites to ensure our OT environments are secure, resilient, and aligned with best practices.
You will play a key role in maturing OT security capabilities, supporting the design and implementation of controls, and driving continuous improvement across complex building, electrical, and industrial control systems. This is a handson engineering role ideal for someone who can translate cybersecurity requirements into practical, operational solutions.
Your Day to Day
OT Security Uplift & Program Delivery
- Support the design, execution, and ongoing improvement of AirTrunk's OT cybersecurity uplift program.
- Conduct security assessments of OT systems, networks, ICS/SCADA environments, and building management systems (BMS), identifying gaps and recommending remediation.
- Assist in the development and rollout of OT security standards, policies, and procedures aligned to industry frameworks (e.g., ISA/IEC 62443, NIST 80082).
Engineering & Implementation
- Work with Engineering, Facility Operations, and Project Delivery teams to embed cybersecurity controls into new builds, retrofits, and operational systems.
- Collaborate on the design of secure OT network architectures, segmentation strategies, and hardening configurations.
- Support deployment and tuning of OT security monitoring tools (e.g., asset discovery, anomaly detection, network security monitoring).
Operational Support
- Assist DC operations teams with OT incident response, vulnerability remediation, and corrective actions.
- Help coordinate and validate OT system patching, firmware updates, and secure configuration management.
- Maintain visibility of OT assets, risk posture, and control effectiveness across sites.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with internal teams (Engineering, DC Operations, IT Security, Risk) to ensure OT security requirements are understood and implemented.
- Provide practical, technical guidance to non-security stakeholders.
- Build strong relationships with vendors, integrators, and contractors to ensure secure system delivery and lifecycle management.
Requirements
Technical Skills
- 4-7 years total experience, with at least 2-3 years in OT security, ICS/SCADA security, or critical infrastructure environments.
- Ideally solid understanding of:
- Industrial protocols (Modbus, BACnet, DNP3, OPC, etc.)
- OT network architectures and segmentation
- BMS, EPMS, PLCs, and industrial controllers
- OT asset discovery and monitoring solutions
- Hardening of OT systems (Windows, Linux, HMIs, controllers)
- Experience applying or working with OT security frameworks such as ISA/IEC 62443, NIST 80082, or similar.
- Exposure to vulnerability management and incident response in OT environments.
Soft Skills
- Strong communication skills - able to translate complex security topics into practical guidance.
- Ability to work autonomously and drive workstreams without heavy supervision.
- Comfortable navigating engineering, operations, construction, and vendor environments.
- Problemsolving mindset with a pragmatic, handson approach.
Preferred Qualifications (nice-to-have, not mandatory)
- Certifications such as GICSP, GRID, ISA/IEC 62443 Cybersecurity Expert/Certificate, CCNA, or similar.
- Experience in data centres, utilities, industrial automation, mining, manufacturing, or other critical infrastructure sectors.
- Prior exposure to hyperscale environments or largescale multisite OT systems.
