NDY Senior Electrical Engineer - Data Centres, Melbourne

Tetra Tech
Melbourne, VIC-AU, Australia Full Time
Reference: 55_459584_55383

Why this role

Join NDY's Mission Critical team and help deliver complex electrical design for data centre projects across brownfield upgrades, greenfield developments and technical consultancy work.

This is a senior role for an engineer who can work with a high degree of independence, lead electrical scope on technically complex projects, and produce strong consultancy-quality documentation. You will work across concept through delivery on large-scale power infrastructure, with a focus on resilient electrical systems rather than interiors-focused lighting and small power work.

This opportunity will suit someone who enjoys technically demanding project work, direct client engagement and meaningful ownership of electrical delivery in a specialist data centre environment.

What you'll do

  • Deliver electrical design and documentation for data centre projects across brownfield upgrades and greenfield developments
  • Prepare and coordinate designs for UPS, generators, powertrain systems, switchboards and large-scale power distribution
  • Lead the electrical aspects of projects from concept through delivery with limited day-to-day direction
  • Produce consultancy deliverables including reports, feasibility studies and due diligence reporting
  • Manage client communication and represent the electrical discipline in project discussions
  • Support delivery of technically complex, power-focused projects within a consultancy environment

Must haves

  • Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering
  • Strong electrical design and documentation experience in complex power systems, including UPS, generators, switchboards and large-scale power distribution
  • Proven data centre design delivery experience
  • Consultancy experience, including client communication, report writing, specifications, drawings and documentation output
  • Ability to independently manage electrical project scope and escalate issues appropriately

Nice to haves

  • ETAP experience or exposure to electrical modelling software
  • PowerCAD experience
  • Building services consulting background
  • Chartership
  • Victorian engineering registration preferred for local candidates
  • White Card

How we'll support you

You'll join a team where support is available, while still being trusted to lead your discipline scope with a high degree of autonomy. This role offers the opportunity to deepen your experience across brownfield upgrades, greenfield developments, consultancy reporting, feasibility studies and due diligence work.

You'll be part of a team that values clear client communication, strong technical documentation and practical engineering judgement, with the support to contribute confidently across complex data centre projects.

What you'll get

  • Exposure to varied high-profile projects and clients across building services
  • Role based in our Melbourne office
  • Hybrid work environment
  • 5 weeks of annual leave
  • Flexible working built on trust - we work the peaks together, then recover
  • Global reach with a small-team feel and opportunities to move across sectors and locations
