Purpose of the Role

BGIS is seeking an experienced Senior Group Accountant to play a key role within our APAC Finance team, supporting financial governance, technical accounting, statutory reporting, and internal controls across our New Zealand entities and broader business operations.

Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you will work closely with finance and operational stakeholders across Australia and New Zealand to deliver accurate financial reporting, strengthen governance frameworks, support audits, and drive continuous improvement through process standardisation and automation.

This role is ideal for someone who combines strong accounting fundamentals with a genuine desire to learn, develop, and build a long-term career within a growing global organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and audit readiness.
  • Deliver month-end reporting activities and statutory financial statements in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate external audit processes and act as a key finance contact throughout audit engagements.
  • Maintain and support SOX and internal control frameworks, including documentation, testing, and compliance activities.
  • Provide technical accounting advice and guidance across the business.
  • Partner with stakeholders across Australia and New Zealand to improve processes and reporting outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, efficiency improvements, and reporting standardisation.
  • Support broader finance initiatives and projects as required.

Education, Experience & Skills

Essential

  • CA or CPA qualification.
  • 4+ years' experience in financial accounting, external audit, or a related finance environment (all levels encouraged to apply)
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Experience preparing statutory financial reports and supporting external audits.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to delivering accurate outcomes.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Desirable

  • Experience with SOX compliance and internal control frameworks.
  • Exposure to ESG reporting requirements.
  • Tax accounting knowledge and experience.
  • Treasury, cash management, banking, or corporate card program experience.
  • Experience with finance process automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
