About the Team:

The Student Life & Leadership team delivers programs, events and initiatives that help students connect, develop skills and make the most of their university experience. Through leadership programs, volunteering opportunities, clubs and societies, student voice initiatives and campus events, the team plays a key role in fostering belonging, engagement and success across Victoria University.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to step into a leadership role within a passionate and student-focused team. You will lead the delivery of high-impact student engagement and leadership initiatives, support student-led programs and projects, and work collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders to enhance the student experience. With a mix of people leadership, program management and strategic project work, this role offers the chance to make a meaningful contribution while building valuable leadership experience.

Position Key Duties

  • Lead and manage the Student Life Leadership team and budget to deliver engaging events, programs, and services across multiple campuses.
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve student leadership and engagement initiatives, monitoring outcomes and reporting on impact.

  • Recruit, supervise, and support students involved in leadership and volunteering programs.

  • Oversee student-led programs including VU Clubs and Societies, Volunteer programs, and the Student Consultative Group.

  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance program effectiveness.

  • Prepare reports, briefings, and presentations for senior management on student leadership activities and outcomes.

  • Support the Manager, Student Life & Leadership in strategic planning and day-to-day operations.

Position Details

Classification: HEP 7

Salary: $101,288 - $109,639 - Plus 17% Super

Employment Type: Full- time ongoing

Hours per Week: 36.75

Location: Footscray

About You:

  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience with at least 4 years in student engagement, program management, or related fields.

  • Proven ability to lead, manage, and develop teams in a fast-paced, multi-project environment.

  • Strong skills in event planning, stakeholder engagement, and relationship management.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and compliance with workplace policies including OHS and anti-discrimination.
