Are you a motivated Structural Designer who's passionate about BIM and eager to embrace the future of design? We're looking for a creative, driven professional who combines architectural expertise with innovated technology. If you're excited about using AI-enhanced design tools, Autodesk Forma platform, and sustainable building practices to transform complex projects, we want to hear from you.
Our team is pushing boundaries by integrating advanced BIM workflows with sustainable design solutions, and we need someone who's naturally curious and ready to learn. If you thrive in a collaborative environment where innovation meets practical design, and you're ready to help shape the future of sustainable architecture, then YOU belong on our team!
You'll join a highly creative, multi-discipline BIM design team delivering challenging and complex projects with innovative solutions for Amazon-owned Data Center facilities. You will support our Central Engineering team through the preparation of architectural and structural BIM models, leveraging BIM data to drive design excellence. You will work with internal teams and external consultants to ensure all BIM models and model data comply with AWS BIM standards and meet the Level of Development (LOD) requirements outlined in the exchange information requirements (EIR). Your scope will include learning and contributing to Data Center design across exterior envelopes, structural system interior architecture, site planning, space planning, life safety, and building code compliance. You will produce and maintain Structural drawing sets for our fleet of Data Centers, participate in BIM coordination meetings, and review consultant models to ensure clash-free delivery.
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain - and we're looking for talented people who want to help. You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
Key job responsibilities
Your primary focus will be designing Structural and Architectural BIM support for Data Center facilities, utilizing Revit to create and maintain BIM models in accordance with AWS BIM Standards. You will work collaboratively within a team environment with support and guidance to accomplish assigned tasks-engaging with internal groups, external consultants, manufacturers, vendors, and contractors. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure all BIM models and model data comply with AWS BIM Standards and meet the Level of Development (LOD) requirements outlined in the Employer's Information Requirements (EIR).
Your duties will include:
Working as a self-motivated contributor within the BIM Design group and across cross-functional teams
Assisting in creating and maintaining Master Structural model files while ensuring precise coordination and alignment with Architectural, MEP, and other discipline models
Preparing and developing detailed Structural and Architectural Revit models
Assisting in creating and maintaining standard regional and global templates and family libraries
Developing and publishing construction documentation for Structural/ Architectural designs in a fast-paced environment to meet scheduled deliverables
Updating and modifying existing models, studies, and construction documents as required
Assisting with creating and maintaining BIM templates and enforcing BIM standards across all project deliverables
Assisting in developing standardized Structural details and custom solutions that align with company standards and project requirements
Participating in design coordination meetings with other trades for clash detection and resolution
Working on concurrent projects across multiple geographical locations
Assisting the project team with information exchange processes between internal and external customers
Supporting internal teams and external partners on Common Data Environment (CDE) protocols and AWS workflows, ensuring seamless collaboration throughout the project lifecycle from design to construction
Recording and reporting key metrics to management
Travelling to Data Center sites for engineering evaluations and surveys as required
Bringing a positive attitude and offering creative, out-of-the-box solutions
A day in the life
As a designer, you will collaborate across disciplines and teams to refine data center designs, creating detailed models, drawings, specifications, and prototypes while keeping managers and leadership informed of design evolution. A significant part of your role involves BIM coordination: participating in regular trade coordination meetings, performing clash detection and resolution across Architectural, Structural, and MEP models, and conducting BIM model audits to verify compliance with AWS BIM Standards and LOD requirements. You will review consultant models for data accuracy and consistency, ensuring all deliverables meet quality benchmarks before milestone submissions. In this role, you'll receive coaching and guidance from experienced managers to develop your technical and professional skills, proactively seek feedback, participate in regular check-ins, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining open communication with all stakeholders.
