Housing Transition Specialist

Part-time - Contract until June 2027

Brunswick, VIC

About the Role

BaptistCare is seeking an experienced and capable Housing Transition Specialist to join our highly supportive housing team on a fixed-term contract until 30 June 2027, working 4 days per week. This is a unique opportunity for someone with strong tenancy management experience who is confident working in complex environments and committed to achieving fair, respectful and legally sound outcomes.

The role is focused on managing a small portfolio of complex tenancies within a program transitioning to closure. It requires a high level of autonomy, sound judgement, and advanced knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act and VCAT processes. You will support tenants through change using a person-centred and trauma-informed approach, connecting them with external supports where necessary to secure alternative housing.

This is a challenging role, but it offers strong collegial support and the opportunity to make a real difference during a critical period of transition. It would suit someone who is resilient, organised, compassionate, and able to navigate difficult tenancy matters with professionalism and care.

What You'll Bring

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field or significant experience in tenancy management.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act and VCAT processes.
  • Experience in housing, homelessness, community services, or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people facing complex needs in a trauma-informed, person-centred way
  • Excellent communication skills - written, verbal, and the ability to simply listen
  • A current Victorian driver's licence and Working with Children's check (or willingness to obtain)
  • Alignment with BaptistCare's values of respect, compassion, and justice - the kind of values you already live by
