Smith's Hill High School has an enrolment of 740 students and is an academically selective school situated in central Wollongong. The school seeks to promote excellence in a spirit of trust and cooperation with an inclusive culture focused on the education of the whole student through a challenging curriculum, a diverse range of extracurricular activities and significant student leadership opportunities. It has dedicated and experienced staff, interested and engaged parents and motivated students with a genuine love of learning.

The school has a flexible curriculum that accommodates student acceleration, extension courses and a broad range of subject choices in all stages. Smith's Hill High School seeks to develop a safe and harmonious environment where difference is accepted and celebrated and where students experience a flexible, challenging and relevant curriculum. In addition to the general selection criteria, demonstrated experience in leading whole school strategic planning and improvement initiatives to promote academic achievement and enhancement of school wide practices.

Proven ability to foster and sustain a positive, inclusive school culture aligned with the school's core values, supporting broad engagement in academic and extracurricular activities.

Demonstrated capacity to develop, lead and evaluate explicit teaching and learning programs that challenge and engage high potential, gifted and twice exceptional students.

Ability to effectively promote student wellbeing while managing the high academic and social expectations typical of an academically selective school, including proactive engagement with parents and the wider school community.

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
