What you'll be doing
This is an exciting full-time opportunity with MNCLHD for an Aboriginal Health Worker/Practitioner within the Drug and Alcohol Service, focusing on the support of the Substance Use in Pregnancy and Parenting Service (SUPPS) team and clients.
The SUPPS team provides specialist counselling and case management support for women substance use related concerns and are either pregnant or caring for children under two years of age. Interventions include support, education, and resources tailored to each woman's bio-psycho-social circumstances.
As a member of the multidisciplinary team, the SUPPS Aboriginal Health Worker/Practitioner delivers integrated, culturally appropriate services to support Aboriginal pregnant women experiencing substance use issues. This role reports directly to an Aboriginal Manager who oversees the Stimulant Treatment Program and the Aboriginal Health Workforce within the Drug and Alcohol Service.

You are a passionate Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Worker/Practitioner with a strong commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal communities. You bring a sound understanding of Aboriginal culture, health priorities, and the social and emotional factors that influence health outcomes. With excellent communication and relationship-building skills, you are confident working with women, families, communities, and healthcare providers to deliver culturally safe, person-centred care. You are organised, collaborative, and committed to supporting positive outcomes for Aboriginal families.
