South Western Sydney Local Health District is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to join our growing Cyber Security team. This is an opportunity to play a key role in protecting critical healthcare systems and sensitive patient data across the District. The successful candidate will contribute to a range of cyber security activities, including implementation and optimisation of cyber security technical solutions, investigating cyber security incidents, and creating and enforcing security patterns backed by industry best practices. We are looking for a motivated professional with strong technical skills and excellent stakeholder management to take ownership of the growing cyber security architectural functions and technological solutions that will form the backbone of SWSLHD's cyber security posture. You will thrive in a fast-paced, high-risk environment supporting critical healthcare services and are looking to take the next step in your career under the direction of the Cyber Security Manager.

Are You the Right Fit?
The ideal candidate will bring a meticulous eye for detail, combined with the ability to analyse complex cyber security risks and develop effective mitigation strategies within a dynamic and highly regulated environment. They will have proven experience working with a range of cyber security tools, frameworks, and Microsoft technologies, enabling them to confidently navigate and secure modern ICT infrastructures. A strong advocate for "Secure by Design" principles, the candidate will proactively embed security into system architecture and processes across a complex healthcare setting. They will demonstrate a clear track record of strengthening organisational cyber resilience, with a commitment to safeguarding critical patient systems and ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive health information.

Selection Criteria
To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.

  • Relevant tertiary degree and/or demonstrated hands-on experience with cyber security tools including but not limited to endpoint detection & response tools, vulnerability management solutions, SIEMs, firewalls and proxies.
  • Proven hands-on experience with system administration tasks within Windows based environments and the wider Microsoft ecosystem including Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365.
  • Familiarity with offensive security concepts including frameworks such as the Lockheed Martin cyber kill chain or MITRE ATT&CK, Including hands-on experience with offensive security tooling.
  • Demonstrated experience in incident response, including triage and investigation activities, carried out collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Superior written communication skills with an ability to prepare reports, procedural documents, technical documentation, and complex security and network diagrams.
  • Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
