What is the opportunity?

RBC Capital Markets is seeking an experienced Securities Finance Trader to lead and expand our Central Funding Group (CFG) platform across the Asia-Pacific region focusing on equities finance. This is a high-impact opportunity to drive revenue growth, build client relationships, and establish RBC as a leading securities finance provider in APAC.

You will have responsibility for building and increasing trading activity with existing and new clients while developing the CFG platform in line with business plan objectives. You will own part of the team profitability, generate revenues aligned with business expectations, and maintain rigorous risk management standards.

What will you do?

  • Build and expand the APAC Securities Finance client base, leveraging deep knowledge of products and market dynamics.
  • Execute and price securities finance products, repos, and related hedging instruments within approved trading limits.
  • Prudently manage risk positions and provide regular feedback on market developments to Sales, Origination, and Trading teams.
  • Maximize returns for RBCCM through informed pricing strategies based on customer trading patterns and market conditions.
  • Maintain team P&L, budgets, and performance targets aligned with business heads.
  • Serve as trading desk backup during mandatory leave and as needed.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with internal stakeholders across RBC Sydney and globally.
  • Structure and execute multi-currency repos in APAC markets.
  • Educate internal teams on Securities Finance capabilities and growth opportunities.
  • Identify and escalate operational risks and control deficiencies proactively.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 10+ years in sales, relationship management, or trading roles.
  • Minimum 5+ years direct trading experience in securities finance or related products in APAC, Repo, Equity finance, FX and short term rates trading.
  • Proven ability to generate ideas and initiate business with sophisticated investors.
  • Strong negotiation and business acumen skills.
  • Sound knowledge of RBC Capital Markets capabilities and product offerings.
  • Demonstrated profit orientation with a track record of revenue generation.
  • Excellent communication skills across all levels of seniority.
  • Committed team player with enthusiasm and positive attitude.
