About US
UniSuper is a place where brilliant thinkers and passionate people come together. As one of Australia's largest super funds, the work you'll do with us makes a meaningful difference today and tomorrow for our members, the planet and for you.

Our Service & Experience division is recognised for performance excellence and for shaping the future of retirement for our members every day. As we continue to grow, so do the opportunities for you to challenge yourself, develop new skills, and make a real impact. Within this role your ideas are valued, your ambition is celebrated and your work genuinely matters.

The Opportunity
This role sits at the centre of how UniSuper continues to strengthen and evolve its Life Claims and Insurance Servicing function.

As Manager, Life Claims & Insurance Servicing, you will lead both people and thinking. You will bring together leadership, operational delivery, and continuous improvement to shape how the function operates today and where it needs to go next. This is a role for someone who can step into the detail, understand the realities of claims and insurance servicing, and then elevate the way work gets done.

The role has been established as part of a broader transformation of the Service & Experience operating model, designed to create clearer accountabilities, strengthen capability and enable more consistent, scalable and member-focused delivery.

You will lead a team of consultants, administrators and a Team Leader, while working closely with the Head of Claims & Insurance Servicing to:

  • Uplift leadership capability, embedding a strong coaching culture and building a high-performing team aligned to outcomes
  • Drive operational excellence by improving processes, managing risk, and lifting performance and member outcomes
  • Strengthen alignment to regulatory expectations, governance requirements and internal standards across the function
  • Use data, insights and external market context to continuously improve how the function operates
  • This is a hands-on leadership role. You will stay close to the work, understand the detail, and use that insight to guide smarter decisions and better ways of working. You will be naturally curious, always looking for opportunities to improve, and confident in challenging the status quo where needed.
  • Success in this role will come from your ability to quickly build a deep understanding of the function, uplift capability within the team, and create momentum in improving both performance and ways of working.

About you
You are an experienced people leader who combines strong technical knowledge with a genuine drive to improve how work gets done.

You are not someone who simply maintains the status quo. You are curious, solution-oriented and comfortable stepping into complexity to understand problems, challenge thinking and lead change. You know how to stay close to the detail while also stepping back to see the bigger picture.

You build credibility through your expertise and leadership style. You engage with your team, your peers and external networks to bring new ideas, challenge assumptions and continuously evolve the function.

You will bring:

  • Proven leadership experience within life claims, insurance servicing or a similar environment, ideally within superannuation or financial services
  • Strong capability in coaching and developing leaders and teams to improve performance, quality and member outcomes
  • Experience balancing operational delivery with continuous improvement and change initiatives
  • A solid understanding of life claims processes, with exposure to underwriting applications
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset, with a track record of identifying issues and driving practical, sustainable solutions
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence across teams and bring others on the journey
  • Most importantly, you bring a mindset of ownership and improvement. You take accountability for outcomes, you lean into challenges, and you actively look for better ways of working that will strengthen the function and improve the experience for our members.
