Infrastructure Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join our Infrastructure Platform team.
This is a hands-on technical role responsible for supporting and maintaining the organisation's core infrastructure platforms. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, performance and supportability of our virtualisation, backup and data centre environments while contributing to ongoing platform improvements, lifecycle management and infrastructure modernisation initiatives.
This role is suited to an engineer who enjoys operational support, problem solving and working across enterprise infrastructure platforms in a collaborative team environment.
The position participates in BAU operations, after-hours maintenance activities and a 24/7 on-call roster.
What You'll Do- Administer and support virtualisation platforms.
- Administer and support enterprise backup and recovery platforms.
- Support physical server and data centre infrastructure.
- Support VMware Avi Load Balancer services.
- Monitor platform health, performance and capacity.
- Investigate and resolve infrastructure incidents, problems and service requests.
- Participate in infrastructure upgrades, patching and lifecycle management activities.
- Contribute to platform security, vulnerability remediation and operational improvements.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, standards and operational procedures.
- Work closely with internal teams, vendors and service providers to deliver reliable infrastructure services.
- Participate in rostered on-call support and planned after-hours maintenance activities.
You are an infrastructure professional with strong virtualisation experience and a solid understanding of enterprise infrastructure operations.
You take ownership of issues, work collaboratively with others and are comfortable balancing operational support responsibilities with continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Skills & Experience- Experience administering VMware environments in an enterprise setting.
- Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure platforms and services.
- Experience with backup and recovery technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working within operational support environments.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and respond effectively to incidents and service requests.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Exposure to Microsoft infrastructure technologies, including Active Directory and Exchange.
- Experience supporting data centre infrastructure and enterprise storage platforms.
- Experience with KVM-based virtualisation platforms.
- VMware Avi Load Balancer experience.
- PowerShell scripting or automation experience.
- Experience with infrastructure security and vulnerability remediation activities.
- Exposure to container platforms such as Podman or Kubernetes.
- Relevant industry certifications.
- Participation in a 24/7 on-call roster.
- Ability to perform after-hours maintenance activities when required.
- Occasional travel between business locations and data centres.
- Ability to participate in both operational support and project-related activities.
