About the Role

This is an opportunity for a suitably qualified social worker to join the leadership team of the RPAH Social Work Department. This position operationally supports the daily functioning of the service, including coordinating human resources, troubleshooting emerging operational issues, and supporting staff to flourish in a complex health environment. The position provides direct management and supervision of team leaders in collaboration with the Head of Department. This position will job share with the substantive position holder, and we are seeking a candidate who is available to work Thursdays and Fridays.

The purpose of the position is to lead and manage clinical services teams in Social Work with a leadership role for the Social Work Department at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, including the supervision of staff, management of professional standards and development of safety and quality. The Deputy Head of Department also works with the Professional Discipline Director of Social Work, other Heads of Departments/Deputy Heads of Department to enhance Social Work services, standards and quality across the allied health stream in Sydney LHD.

Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor / Post Graduate degree in Social Work from an accredited University Social Work program including eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, as well as relevant post graduate qualifications in clinical leadership and/or management or willingness to undertake.

  • Advanced clinical skills and clinical experience in the provision of Social Work services across a broad range of clinical areas.

  • Ability and experience in the leadership, supervision and management of Social Workers. This includes demonstrated ability to identify and lead change across the service to improve service delivery models and meet identified KPIs.

  • Extensive experience and demonstrated ability in building and maintaining professional and therapeutic relationships with key stakeholders and patients/clients through the application of well-developed written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
