The Role
Working as part of a collaborative team, you will be responsible for underwriting Financial Lines business, including Professional Indemnity, Directors & Officers and Management Liability.
In this role, you will contribute to the delivery of sustainable portfolio outcomes while developing and maintaining long-term relationships with brokers. You will work closely with the State Manager QLD & NT to support business growth, service excellence and achievement of budget objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Underwrite a portfolio of Financial Lines risks, including Professional Indemnity, Directors & Officers and Management Liability
Build and strengthen broker relationships, growing your network and delivering a high level of service
Provide timely, high-quality underwriting decisions that support strong client and broker outcomes
Contribute to portfolio performance, supporting revenue growth and expense management in partnership with the State Manager
Drive efficiency and broker engagement by promoting the use of online platforms (SCTP and BindIT) and identifying improvement opportunities
Play an active role in broader business initiatives, including planning, innovation and industry engagement
The Candidate - Skills, Qualifications & Experience
About You
You are a motivated and detail-oriented insurance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You enjoy working collaboratively while also being confident operating independently and managing competing priorities. You are keen to build your capability and specialise in underwriting.
Essential
5+ years' experience in insurance (underwriting and/or broking)
Strong knowledge of Financial Lines (PI, D&O, Management Liability)
Proven broker relationship and stakeholder management skills
Confident in negotiating and approving insurance terms
Strong communication, numeracy and analytical capability
High attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities
Proficient in Microsoft Office and business systems
Desired
Current underwriting experience within an Australian insurer
Exposure to Public and Products Liability
Tertiary qualifications in Insurance or a related discipline
