About The Position

One of our operating companies, Secom Technology, is looking for a Networking and Field Engineer to support their customers in and around Sydney.

As a Networking and Field Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, implementing and optimising IT infrastructure solutions for a wide range of clients. The position requires a strong emphasis on security, system resilience and network performance, as well as excellent problem-solving abilities and a genuine commitment to customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and optimise network infrastructure to ensure high availability, scalability, and security.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies to enhance performance, improve resilience, and strengthen cybersecurity.
  • Take a holistic approach to infrastructure by assessing client environments and providing improvement recommendations to the Technical Operations Manager.
  • Deliver expert-level support and diagnostics for complex issues across server infrastructure, switching, wireless, and firewall environments.
  • Deploy and configure Windows and macOS desktop environments, Windows Server, VMware hypervisors, enterprise Wi-Fi, and next-generation firewalls.
  • Provide remote and on-site IT system design, implementation, and support tailored to client business requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of infrastructure, network topologies, and key configurations, including photographic records of critical components.
  • Communicate clearly, professionally, and promptly with clients during incidents and service delivery.
  • Support software testing and collaborate with development teams on integration and deployment.
  • Manage cybersecurity across client networks, including endpoint protection and perimeter security.
  • Maintain accurate time tracking, job records, and completion of daily service logs.

Technical skills required

  • 3-5 years of experience as either Senior Network Field Engineer / Technical Lead / Project Engineer or Technical Account Manager
  • Proficiency with RMM platforms (e.g. ConnectWise, N-able).
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols, and WAN/LAN/VPN design, along with cybersecurity best practices.
  • Experience deploying and maintaining infrastructure across Windows, macOS, Unix, and Linux environments.
  • Strong understanding of wireless technologies, firewall configuration, and endpoint protection.
  • Experience with server and client architecture, virtualisation (VMware/Hyper-V), and disaster recovery planning.
  • Familiarity with mobile device management (MDM) and remote connectivity solutions
  • Strong documentation, troubleshooting, and diagnostic capabilities.

  • Strong analytical thinking and effective time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead or mentor technical teams is highly desirable
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Microsoft certifications and other industry-recognised qualifications are highly regarded
  • Willingness to travel to client premises as required.
