About the project

Working in a strategic Alliance with Thiess and Harmony, you will form part of a collaborative team, driven by shared objectives and values, to deliver operational excellence at the Eva Copper Mine Project.

The Alliance will set new benchmarks for safe, sustainable and efficient copper development, supported by commitments to local employment and procurement, new-to-industry and Indigenous workforce development and meaningful engagement in the local community.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of defining, building and operating a major mining operation.

The Eva Copper Mine Project is located on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon People in North West Queensland, approximately 75 km north-west of Cloncurry and about 95 km north-east of Mount Isa.

The Project is an iron-oxide copper-gold resource featuring multiple open pits and is poised to become the largest greenfield copper mine in Queensland. Learn more about the Eva Copper Mine Project.

The Opportunity

Roster: 8/6 | Location: Eva Copper, Queensland | Employment Type: Permanent

Are you an Environmental Advisor with a passion for operational excellence and innovative solutions? Thiess is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Environmental Advisor to join our dynamic team at the Eva Copper Mine Project in the Cloncurry region of Queensland, Australia.

In this role, you will play a key part in delivering safe, efficient, and sustainable mining operations, driving technical excellence and supporting project success.

Working an 8/6 roster your duties will include:

• Ensuring compliance with all relevant environmental legislation and project approvals
• Management of top-soiling, site water, and rehabilitation works including quality assurance
• Ensuring the successful implementation of the Environmental Management System including the development and implementation of project Environmental Management Plans
• Delivering environmental training and awareness programs
• Ensuring environmental initiatives and innovations are effectively communicated and promoted to strengthen the culture within the business
• Collation of reports to meet legislative and client requirements
• Liaison with the client and regulator
• Co-ordinating environmental monitoring, inspection and auditing programs and maintaining associated documentation and records
• Providing interpretation of environmental data and regular progress reports against environmental performance targets
• Strategically influence the design, construction, and consultant teams in areas of environmental management and sustainability to deliver outstanding outcomes

About you

• Proven site-based environmental experience in mining or heavy industry
• Strong environmental compliance & approvals knowledge (incl. EMS and legislation)
• Hands-on experience with monitoring, reporting, and audits
• Confident stakeholder engagement (regulators, client, operations)
