A new and exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and highly motivated Registered Nurse to join the Cancer Services team at Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) in the role of McGrath Rare Cancer Nurse Coordinator.
This specialist role is pivotal in coordinating the care for patients with Rare Cancers across the continuum of care. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, the McGrath Cancer Nurse Coordinator provides expert clinical care, care coordination, patient education, and supportive care to patients and their families, ensuring timely, integrated and patient centred care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct a service gap analysis and documented scope of service incorporating McGrath Model of Care principles
- Coordinate and navigate care for patients with rare cancers
- Act as a key point of contact for patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team (MDT)
- Provide expert clinical advice and education to staff regarding rare cancer pathways

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Registered Nurse who has minimum 5 years full time post graduate experience with 3 years full time equivalent in the specialty field. In addition, the applicant must have an approved post graduate qualification (minimum Grad Diploma/Certificate level) or evidence of working towards Masters level qualification.
- Demonstrated clinical leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing practice.
- Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills across a variety of mediums and an understanding of the practice development framework.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake quality improvement and research activities that influence and enhance clinical practice and implement change.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both as a member of a multidisciplinary team and independently.
