Formed in 1882, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH) is a major metropolitan tertiary referral hospital and a principal provider of specialist healthcare. It remains one of the nation's most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities.

The role of a General Porter is to safely transport all patients and equipment using the most appropriate mode of transport across the Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) Hospital campus and Chris O'Brien Life House. The General Porter position is key in supporting efficient and effective patient flow across the hospital through timely patient movements between services and wards.

Ideal Candidate

  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communications skills including the ability to communicate with a range of individuals including clinicians, patients, and families professionally and courteously.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and participate in a 24/7 rotating roster which includes night shifts, with flexibility to adapt to changing operational demands based on activity.
  • Previous experience in a health-related environment and understanding of privacy and confidentiality.
