Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Patient Flow Team as a Bed Manager. The position is temporary full time, morning and evening shifts, Monday to Friday until April 2027.

This key role involves coordinating patient admissions to inpatient beds, ensuring timely, safe, and effective flow across the hospital. The Patient Flow Bed Manager will be located with the Patient Flow Team within Nursing and Midwifery Operations. The Bed Manager will work closely with the Patient Flow Manager, Deputy Director of Nursing and Capacity Coordinator, in order to facilitate flow of patients throughout RNSH.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation (AHPRA).
  2. Extensive recent post registration clinical experience and knowledge of current nursing and midwifery issues in an acute hospital environment.
  3. Excellent interpersonal skills with high level negotiation, conflict resolution skills and demonstrated clinical leadership skills.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge in initiating and implementing changes to improve clinical service delivery and outcomes, models of care, evidence based practice and practice development.
  5. A comprehensive understanding of New South Wales Health Ministry of Health Key Performance Indicators including HAT and TOC.
  6. Proven ability to prioritise and meet deadlines with the ability to work autonomously.
  7. Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication skills and computer literacy in Microsoft Applications, Patient Flow Portal, FirstNet and Cerner eMR.
