About the role:
This exciting role is open to suitably qualified Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Speech Pathologists and Physiotherapist. The Intellectual Disability Clinician informs and guides the Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) mainstream health staff on the delivery of care for people with intellectual disability and their carers and families.
An exciting combination of direct clinical work and supporting other clinicians, the service includes multidisciplinary assessment and care planning for people with complex health needs and intellectual disability and capacity building activity to build the skills, confidence, and experience of mainstream clinicians.
The position will lead the development of appropriate clinical practice for patients/clients with intellectual disability and their carers and families in any hospital or site in the local health district including community health or outpatient setting.
The Intellectual Disability Clinician will link with Western NSW LHD Specialist Intellectual Disability Health Team (SIDHT) who will assist the MLHD Intellectual Disability clinician in providing MDT care for people with intellectual disability with complex unmet health needs.

Our ideal candidate will demonstrate:
Recognised Tertiary Degree in an Allied Health discipline (Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Speech Pathology or Physiotherapy) with either AHPRA registration or eligibility for membership with relevant peak professional body and demonstrated evidence of ongoing professional development.
Extensive specialist or broad generalist knowledge in Intellectual Disabilities, and knowledge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) with reference to Intellectual Disability with demonstrated ability to provide strategic advice.
Ability to work with minimal supervision, and collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team taking leadership in clinical decision making.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including written, verbal and computer skills.
Excellent consultation, negotiation and advocacy skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and refine strategic relationships both within and external to the organisation.
