Team Leader - Advisory & Planning (Wollongong)
Our Water Division is experiencing strong growth, creating an exciting opportunity for a Team Leader - Advisory & Planning (Wollongong).
Location: Wollongong, NSW
This role is a leadership position focused on expanding our regional presence across NSW. You will lead a busy team while actively growing our client base, strengthening relationships, and building a sustainable pipeline of work across the Illawarra and broader regional market.
You will play a central role in shaping our regional strategy by identifying opportunities, partnering with clients early, and positioning the team to win and deliver meaningful water and sewer infrastructure projects. This is a unique opportunity to have a direct impact on regional growth, community outcomes, and the long-term success of our business in NSW.
Responsibilities include:
Working with and in support of the Group Leader, you will:
Lead and develop a high-performing team, driving accountability, engagement, and career growth
Grow and diversify the regional client base, building trusted relationships with councils and key stakeholders
Identify, secure, and maintain a strong pipeline of work, aligned to regional strategy
Partner with the Group Leader and broader business to position the team for upcoming opportunities and pursuits
Collaborate across regions to maximise work sharing and capability
Oversee team performance, utilisation, and forward workload forecasting
Champion a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team culture
Support recruitment, succession planning, and professional development across the team
Maintain strong oversight of project delivery outcomes and client satisfaction
Be responsible for the health and safety performance within their team, including the monitoring of leading and lagging indicators.
To be successful for this role you'll need:
Relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering
A minimum 7 years' professional work experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience
Ability to foster and grow a collaborative spirit between staff working within the region, BC and across the broader Stantec service lines
To be committed to working in the Wollongong office at least 3 days / week to make sure you are a visible leader supporting the development of a strong team culture.
A broad range of skills covering people management, business development and project delivery
Highly developed interpersonal skills to develop and maintain positive relationships with the team as well as internal and external clients
Highly developed consulting skills to liaise with clients and other stakeholders to achieve mutually successful project outcomes
Well-developed problem solving and negotiations skills to resolve queries.
