What you'll be doing
In this casual opportunity, you will apply your clinical expertise to communicable disease control, supporting rapid response and prevention strategies across the district.

Investigate infectious disease notifications, outbreaks and foodborne illness

Implement public health control measures under legislation and guidelines

Provide expert advice to health services and external stakeholders

Participate in research, working groups and public health initiatives

Contribute to after-hours on-call roster and ongoing professional development

Essential Criteria:

License: Current motor vehicle driver's license and willingness to drive

Qualification: At least 2 years recent experience working in Public Health or Infection Control

Registration: Current Registration as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

Selection Criteria:

1. Demonstrated knowledge of current issues in communicable disease and experience in communicable disease control

2. Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor other staff

3. Demonstrated organisational and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team

4. Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills

5. Demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with the public, Health Professionals, Aged Care Facilities and other stakeholders external to the Public Health Unit

6. Computer literacy including experience with Microsoft Office package and experience with computerised data management systems
