Strategic Finance Analyst
Imagine having the power to stress-test an entire power grid against a hurricane or thunderstorm before the clouds even gather. That is the reality we are creating at Neara.
We use advanced machine learning to create engineering-grade, physics enabled digital twins of electricity grids across four continents, this helps asset owners understand their biggest challenges and bring the most viable solutions to life across millions of kilometres of infrastructure.
By simulating extreme weather and structural stress at a network-wide scale, we empower the world's largest utilities to pinpoint risks, optimise investments and build a more resilient global energy future.
Our team is a collection of brilliant minds who are fanatical about making a tangible difference in the real world, utilising AI and machine learning to accelerate everything from data classification to complex scenario analysis. We have built a special culture where innovation thrives because everyone owns the mission and we need smart, creative people to help us scale this impact to every corner of the globe.
We're looking for a Strategic Finance Analyst to join our Finance team and help shape how we make decisions as we scale. This role is ideal for someone with 2-3 years of experience in investment banking, corporate finance, transaction services, strategic finance or a similarly high-performance environment who wants to move beyond advising businesses and into helping build one.
You'll bring strong analytical capability, financial modelling expertise and commercial curiosity, applying those skills across forecasting, business performance, strategic planning and growth initiatives in a fast, operationally hands-on environment. Working closely with senior leaders, you'll own key forecasting and analytical areas, support reporting and planning cycles and help drive business performance, while gaining exposure to SaaS economics, capital planning, fundraising and M&A in a high-growth technology environment.
We are looking for someone who takes initiative, pushes through ambiguity and enjoys drawing real insight out of the numbers. As part of a small, high-impact finance team, you'll take ownership early and have the opportunity to expand your scope as the business grows.
What You'll Do
Financial Planning & Analysis
Own key forecasting, modelling and analytical areas across the business from day one - find where we can do better and turn numbers into actionable insight
Build and maintain insightful dashboards - identify what's worth showing, surface it, and bring it to the relevant stakeholders
Support budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning processes
Reporting & Business Insights
Refine and improve management reporting processes and frameworks
Track financial performance, investigate variances, and translate findings into recommendations
Support strategic projects, including capital raises and M&A due diligence
Deliver analysis and reporting to senior stakeholders across the business
Process & Systems
Improve reporting, planning and FP&A processes as the business scales
Enhance reporting automation, data quality and financial governance practices
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across Finance and the wider organisation
Growth Opportunities
As you grow in the role, you'll have the opportunity to:
Partner closely with leaders across the business as a trusted source of commercial insight
Play an active role in M&A projects - running market screens, building business cases, and modelling deals that shape the company's direction
Support cash flow, capital planning and investment decisions that shape Neara's future growth
What We're Looking For
2-3 years' experience in investment banking, corporate finance, transaction services, strategic finance or a similarly rigorous analytical environment
Strong financial modelling and advanced Excel skills
Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
Ability to work independently and drive outcomes in a fast-paced environment with hands-on execution
High attention to detail while maintaining a broader commercial perspective
Nice to Have
Exposure to BI tools, financial systems or reporting platforms
SQL, Python or data analytics experience
Experience supporting fundraising, capital raising or M&A activities
