Insurance Product & Policy Specialist

Your New Role
This role is a 12-month maximum term contract and is responsible for ensuring the Fund's insurance products remain competitive and sustainable, meeting the diverse needs of members in an equitable manner while complying with all regulatory requirements and industry codes. These products must also align with the Insurance Management Framework (IMF). The position oversees the maintenance and evolution of the Fund's group insurance policies and IMF to accurately reflect agreed terms, conditions, processes, Trust Deed requirements, and relevant legislation.
Other duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Support the design and development of the insurance product offering
- Implementing product and process simplification initiatives and related, member/employer/advice initiatives.
- Provide subject matter expertise to the business for queries and review and sign-off of relevant insurance communications/collateral as needed including
- Significant Event Notices (SENs), Product Disclosure Statements (PDSs), insurance guides, insurance forms, annual statements, education material and tender responses.
- Take an active role as a subject matter expert in insurance and related business projects including information gathering, impact assessments, analysis (e.g. of competitive position, insurer and administrator proposals etc.), testing and digital requirements (eg. online underwriting, calculators, and member portal) and policy reviews. Leading small projects or specific components of larger projects and initiatives.
- Monitor and maintain insurance product inbox - respond to or allocate queries as appropriate.
What You'll Need
- Solid experience in superannuation and insurance
- Knowledge of the group and/or retail life insurance
- Ability to read, analyse, interpret and explain insurance policy terms and conditions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills which foster cooperation and teamwork in a close team environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to write reports and member communications; and ability to accurately proofread.
- An ability to read, analyse, understand/interpret and explain technical documents (such as insurance policy terms and conditions, legislation, business requirements), and to be able to determine the subject matter and to prepare and summarise reports.
- Effective relationship builder and stakeholder management.
- Ability to support delivery of product initiatives and project manage.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Proactive with a developed sense of initiative.
