What's the role?
Step into a high-impact leadership role shaping how AI is governed across Westpac. As part of a newly established Responsible AI function, this role plays a key part in building trust in AI across the organisation.
Operating at the intersection of AI, policy and risk, you'll lead a significant area of the function setting direction while remaining close to delivery. The role partners closely with the Chief AI Office, as well as risk, legal and compliance teams, to embed practical and scalable approaches to managing AI risk.
This is a rare opportunity to build from the ground up defining frameworks, establishing clear guardrails and creating the core capabilities needed to support responsible AI at scale.
We're hiring for two permanent fulltime Executive Manager opportunities - one based in Sydney, and the other flexible across our Australian office locations.
What do I need?
- Demonstrated experience operating at a senior leadership level, driving enterprisewide strategy and execution
- Strong experience in AI risk, policy, legal, compliance or related domains
- Deep understanding of Responsible AI principles and the ability to translate them into practical, scalable controls
- Strong knowledge of AI and associated risks, including lifecycle, monitoring, and governance
- Proven ability to influence and align senior stakeholders across complex, crossfunctional environments
- Strong analytical and decisionmaking capability, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and drive outcomes
