Within this role your ideas are valued, your ambition is celebrated and your work genuinely matters.
The Opportunity
This newly created leadership role sits at the centre of how UniSuper strengthens governance, oversight and decision-making across Claims and Insurance.
As Manager, Claims & Insurance Governance, you will bring together governance, data, insights and controls into a single, cohesive framework that enables clear accountability, consistent decision-making and strong regulatory alignment across the end-to-end claims function.
This role has been established as part of a broader transformation of the Service & Experience operating model, designed to uplift governance, improve visibility of systemic risks and enable more scalable, consistent and member-focused delivery.
You will operate at the intersection of claims operations, risk, compliance and leadership, working closely with the Head of Claims & Insurance Servicing and senior stakeholders to:
- Build and embed a clear governance framework across claims and insurance
- Strengthen oversight of insurer and administrator performance
- Use data, reporting and thematic insights to identify risk, trends and opportunities
- Ensure readiness for regulatory review and scrutiny across the claims function
This is not a traditional operational leadership role. It is designed for someone who can take a complex environment, connect the dots across processes, controls and data, and create a governance ecosystem that stands up to internal and external scrutiny.
You will lead a small specialist team and play a key role in shaping how governance, assurance and insights drive better decisions, stronger compliance and improved member outcomes.
About you
You bring deep technical expertise in life insurance, claims and superannuation, with a strong track record operating in governance, compliance or technical claims environments.
You are comfortable navigating complexity and ambiguity and have demonstrated experience building or embedding governance frameworks in large, regulated financial services organisations.
More importantly, you are able to move beyond theory. You use data, insights and reporting to identify where attention is needed, uncover systemic risks and influence meaningful change across a claims ecosystem.
You will bring:
- Proven experience in governance, compliance or technical claims roles within life insurance or superannuation
- Strong understanding of regulatory expectations across APRA, ASIC and AFCA environments
- Experience working with insurers, administrators and trustees in a complex operating model
- Advanced capability in data, reporting and insights to drive decision-making and identify trends
- The ability to translate regulation and policy into practical, operational frameworks and controls
You are also a strong influencer and connector. You can bring together stakeholders across claims, risk, compliance and leadership to align on priorities, challenge thinking and embed consistent, fair and well-governed outcomes.
Critically, you take a whole-of-system view. You don't just look at individual issues, you build the structures, controls and frameworks that ensure the function can clearly demonstrate how it operates, how decisions are made and how risks are managed at any point in time.
