About this opportunity
We're looking for a Legal Counsel, Investments to join our high-performing Legal & Company Secretariat team, supporting a sophisticated and growing Investments function.

This is a hands-on, commercially focused legal role supporting investment activity across a diverse, global portfolio. You'll work closely with senior stakeholders across the business, including the CIO and Investment teams, influencing outcomes while safeguarding member interests.

What you'll be doing:

  • Advising on and negotiating a broad range of investment agreements (e.g. term sheets, equity/debt commitments, SPAs, shareholder agreements)
  • Supporting complex transactions across asset classes including infrastructure, property, credit income, private equity and alternatives
  • Providing legal advice on derivatives, structured finance and ISDA documentation
  • Partnering with the business on optimal investment structures (domestic & offshore)
  • Reviewing corporate, commercial and disclosure documents to ensure compliance with superannuation and financial services regulation
  • Supporting governance and company secretariat activities, including Board and Committee matters
  • Managing external legal providers and supporting litigation strategy where required

How do you exceed our expectations?

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Law degree + admission to practice in Australia
  • 3+ years' experience in banking, corporate/commercial or transactional law
  • Exposure to investment transactions (private equity, infrastructure, property or similar)
  • Strong understanding of Corporations Act, superannuation or financial services law
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Excellent communication, judgement and ability to manage competing priorities
  • Bonus points for experience with derivatives, structured finance or securities lending
