Role and Responsibilities

The Primary Therapist is responsible for working with residents and the entire clinical team to

ensure treatment goals are accomplished. More importantly, the Primary Therapist supports

the mission and the vision of the Department.

Brief outline of position:

1. Carry a caseload of residents as assigned

2. Conduct various therapy groups.

3. Conduct individual therapy and documentation throughout the week.

4. Develop and implement residents’ treatment plans and goals.

5. Co-facilitate clinical meetings as directed.

6. Assess prospective residents for admission and write report and recommendations.

7. Visit residents when hospitalized and write reassessment and recommendations.

8. Participate in therapeutic outings in community with activity therapist.

9. Participate in monthly utilization review meetings and all other meetings as required.

10. Attend weekly supervision with Associate Director.

11. Participate in LTSR task force meetings with OMH.

12. Attend weekly treatment team meetings.

13. Work as a Liaison with the Hospital, CIRC Programs and other affiliated Agencies

regarding clinical and residential issues.

14. Complete all documentation required by City and State Regulations and program

policy and procedures.

15. Must Complete all Required Trainings.

16. Work 1-2 evenings per month as needed.

17. All other duties as assigned by Associate Director.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

1. Master’s Degree in one of the social sciences required.

2. All candidates must possess at least two years psychiatric experience in addition to

the above requirement.

3. Must physically be able to: A) climb stairs; C) Assist with non-invasive behavioral

health/behavioral management practices in emergency situations.

WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE (IF APPLICABLE)

Must have an acceptable PA criminal history, FBI clearance and Child Abuse clearance done prior to hire.
