About the opportunity
This is a temporary part time Duty Supervisor position in the Central Specimen Reception department of NSW Health Pathology. We are based at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Randwick. We're looking for a proactive leader to oversee our Specimen Reception area, ensuring it operates efficiently, costeffectively, and in line with laboratory best practice to achieve optimal turnaround times. This role operates on a 7-day rotating roster, with shift start times ranging between 6:00am and 2:30pm. The roster includes weekends and public holidays on a rotational basis, and may also require occasional overnight shifts.
What you'll be doing
- Ensuring the Specimen Reception area is run efficiently, cost-effectively and meets laboratory best practice in ensuring optimum turn-around-times for results.
- Responsible for the supervision of staff within the Section and assigning day-to-day activities to the team.
- Ensure the prompt reception, data entry and pre-analytical preparation of pathology samples within the Department and supervision of the team responsible for these services.

- Demonstrated experience in a Pathology Specimen Reception area with a sound understanding of all procedures.
- Demonstrated strong leadership skills with the capacity to lead, motivate and manage conflict whilst contributing to building a team focused on providing high quality customer service.
