Your Role The Legal Counsel is a key member of the Legal & Privacy team, responsible for delivering high-quality, practical legal support across Flybuys' commercial, marketing, technology, data, risk and operational activities. This role partners closely with business stakeholders to enable delivery, manage legal risk and ensure compliance, while supporting efficient and scalable legal processes. The Legal Counsel will operate as a trusted advisor on daytoday matters and play a critical role in managing contracting volume and operational legal demand. The key areas of accountability in the role are: Commercial contracting & deal support Draft, review and negotiate a high volume of commercial contracts across various areas, including supplier agreements, NDA, SaaS, marketing and rewards agreements Provide pragmatic advice on risk allocation, liability, indemnities and commercial terms Support business teams to progress deals efficiently within agreed risk parameters Business partnering & legal advisory Act as the daytoday legal contact for allocated business units (e.g. product, risk, security, rewards, people experience, privacy, partnerships, operations, customer support, procurement) Provide clear, commerciallyoriented advice on legal and regulatory issues Translate complex legal issues into practical recommendations for nonlegal stakeholders Brand and marketing support Partnering with stakeholders to deliver timely and effective advice in respect of Consumer Laws and SPAM Act compliance. Reviewing and advising on marketing materials across a diverse range of sectors including grocery, convenience, retail, telecommunications, financial services, health insurance and travel. Management of intellectual property portfolio Responsible for management of existing IP portfolio Advise and guide business in respect of new products and branding Responsible for business name management Also apply this advice and lens as part of marketing reviews Risk, compliance & governance support Identify and escalate legal and regulatory risks in a timely manner Support compliance with relevant laws and advising in respect of legislative changes (e.g. Corporations, Privacy, consumer law) and internal policies Assist with governance processes, including document review, approvals and record keeping Disputes, incidents & regulatory matters Support management of disputes, escalated complaints and regulatory issues Assist in incident response (including data/privacy incidents) and investigation processes Liaise with external counsel where required and manage inputs efficiently Legal operations & process improvement Contribute to development of templates, playbooks and contracting processes Support continuous improvement to increase efficiency, consistency and scalability of legal services Assist in education and training of stakeholders to uplift legal literacy and reduce dependency Your Experience 4-7 years PQE in corporate/commercial law (private practice or inhouse) Experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements Exposure to consumer, privacy, technology, intellectual property or marketing law desirable Strong commercial judgement and risk awareness Ability to prioritise highvolume, competing demands Clear communication and stakeholder management skills employing strong interpersonal skills to build trusted relationships with stakeholders Pragmatic solutions-focussed approach balancing risk with business objectives.
