The Opportunity

Our Major Projects Team is looking for a Safety Partner to join the team based in Port Kembla! The Australian Steel Products portfolio has six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

This is a pivotal role working across capital projects contributing to the safe delivery of critical infrastructure projects, including long-term site initiatives such as berth remediation works. This role offers a unique opportunity to step into a project-focused safety position with strong exposure to construction governance, while also providing scope for further development within BlueScope's safety framework.

What Will You Do?

Reporting into the Major Projects team, you will partner closely with Construction and Project Controls teams to ensure robust safety governance across all phases of project delivery. You will also be;

  • overseeing and implementing health & safety governance frameworks across major capital projects
  • ensuring compliance with construction legislation and BlueScope safety standards
  • leading and supporting incident investigations and corrective actions
  • conducting site audits, safety inspections and field-based assurance activities
  • facilitating safety meetings and driving proactive safety engagement
  • engaging with external regulators and governance bodies as required
  • working across systems such as MARS and Aconex

More About You

You are a seasoned safety professional with experience in construction or major capital projects, and you bring a practical, solutions-focused approach to safety leadership.

You will also bring:

  • demonstrated experience in construction safety (critical - not purely manufacturing)
  • strong understanding of project-based HSE governance
  • experience working on large-scale capital projects
  • proven ability to influence contractors and project stakeholders
  • confidence leading investigations and engaging with external authorities
  • ability to balance on-site presence with governance and office-based work
