The Role

As the Play Leader you will deliver quality play and learning sessions, during school terms, to meet the social, emotional, and developmental needs of children aged 3 - 5 years who may have developmental challenges or additional needs. A key focus of the program is to work with parents/caregivers from diverse cultural backgrounds to build their confidence and skills to support their children's early development and learning at home. Through this program, the Play Leader contributes to the contractual obligations and service level outcomes of the "My Play School" program, funded by Telethon.

Face to face delivery of the early education program will be across 7 weeks per school term with 4 sessions per week. Travel to various host locations within the Southeast metropolitan area is required for program delivery.

This position is a fixed term part-time role ending 18 December 2026, working 6 days and 30 hours per fortnight.

About You

  • Diploma in a relevant field such as Early Childhood Education and Care

  • Relevant experience in a similar role, working with children and families from diverse cultural backgrounds

  • Extensive knowledge of child development and current Early Years Learning Framework

  • Confidence to work with minimal supervision to deliver program sessions and complete data and evaluation

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to be open and responsive and to work in a team environment

  • Current First Aid Certificate

  • Satisfactory Police clearance (not older than 6 months from the issue date)

  • Unrestricted drivers' licence

  • Working With Children Check
