About Us
BaptistCare is a leading purpose-led care organisation, guided by our Christian identity and serving people and communities across Australia for more than 110 years. We support people to live better through aged care, home care, retirement living, community services, disability support and housing.
We know that life's challenges can make our world feel smaller. With the right people alongside us, it can feel more connected, supported and hopeful again.
That's what we work towards every day - enriching lives through communities of care. Today, more than 70,000 customers, 12,000 employees and close to 2,000 volunteers are part of our communities across Australia.
Baptistcare exists to serve people in need - and the Legal and Governance team plays a meaningful role in making that possible. As Legal Officer, you'll bring sound legal judgement to an organisation that genuinely measures its success by the wellbeing of the people it supports.
What You'll Be Working On
- Providing timely legal advice across a diverse portfolio including contracts, employment, privacy, and regulatory compliance matters
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a range of commercial agreements and organisational policies
- Supporting governance frameworks and assisting with Board and committee documentation as required
- Monitoring legislative and regulatory developments relevant to the aged care and community services sector
What You'll Bring
- A current practising certificate and a minimum of two years' post-admission experience in a relevant legal discipline
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, practical guidance for non-legal stakeholders
- Experience advising on contracts, compliance, or governance - ideally within a regulated or NFP environment
- Familiarity with the Aged Care Act or community services regulatory landscape, or a genuine readiness to develop this knowledge quickly within Baptistcare's operating context
- Strong drafting skills and sharp attention to detail
- The ability to manage competing priorities with composure and professionalism
