BTP is currently seeking experienced Auto Electricians to join our skilled and supportive teams across a number of project sites throughout Queensland.

Reporting to the Shift Leading Hand, you will bring your experience in the maintenance, diagnostics and repair of heavy mobile mining equipment electrical and air-conditioning systems across both field and workshop environments.
About the Role
As an Auto Electrician with BTP, you will play a key role in keeping our mobile fleet operating safely, reliably and efficiently.
You will carry out electrical and air-conditioning maintenance, diagnostics, repairs and overhauls on a range of heavy mobile plant and equipment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys technical fault finding, takes pride in quality workmanship and wants to be part of a team that values safety, reliability and performance.
These roles offer an even-time 7/7 roster, with flexible site access options including FIFO or from Brisbane, Townsville and Cairns, as well as DIDO or BIBO options from Mackay.
What You'll Be Doing
In this role, you will:
- Diagnose, repair and maintain electrical and air-conditioning systems on heavy mobile mining equipment.
- Complete maintenance and repairs across field and workshop environments.
- Work on Caterpillar equipment, with exposure to other heavy mobile plant highly regarded.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics to support accurate fault finding and repairs.
- Carry out repairs in line with OEM, legislative and site requirements.
- Use CAT SIS and ET systems to support diagnostics and machine performance.
- Complete parts requisitions, daily timesheets, job documentation and repair records to a high standard.
- Conduct pre-starts, risk assessments, Check Mates and JHAs as required.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised work area.
- Support a positive safety culture by following BTP procedures, policies and critical risk standards.
- Mentor and support apprentices or trainees where required.
About You
You are an experienced Auto Electrician who knows your way around complex electrical and air-conditioning systems. You enjoy a challenge, take pride in getting the job done properly and understand the importance of reliable equipment to site operations.
To be successful, you will bring:
- Australian recognised Auto Electrical Trade Certificate.
- Air Conditioning Refrigerant Handling Licence.
- Previous experience in an Auto Electrician role within mining, heavy equipment, mobile plant or a similar environment.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capability.
- Sound knowledge of electrical and air-conditioning systems.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics.
- Understanding of statutory and legislative requirements relating to AC systems and maintenance.
- Experience using CAT SIS and ET systems.
- Coal Board Medical and Standard 11, or ability to obtain where required.
- Working at Heights and Confined Space highly regarded.
- Dogging licence highly regarded.
- HR driver's licence highly regarded.
- Forklift, EWP or CN licences also highly regarded.
