Are you ready to help tell the stories of one of the most exciting properties in global sport and entertainment? SailGP is looking for a dynamic and experienced PR professional to take our storytelling to the next level.



The Communications Manager, APAC will be responsible for the global media strategy across Asia-Pacific, driving meaningful coverage and supercharging our storytelling across the region. You will work closely with internal teams as well as external stakeholders, including SailGP teams, partners and broadcasters, to shape the public image of our sport and events, and contribute to the growth of the championship.

This is a rare opportunity to combine your passion for sport, storytelling and strategic communications in a role that puts you at the heart of the sports entertainment industry.



This is a contract position to the end of March 2027 - with a view to possible extension beyond this date.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all communications relating to SailGP in the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Create and execute strategic and locally relevant communications and content plans for SailGP to promote the league and its events in APAC.
  • Lead media engagement on behalf of SailGP - serve as the main contact for SailGP in APAC for local, national and international media.
  • Amplify SailGP global announcements in the market.
  • Manage and oversee local communications agencies.
  • Communications liaison for SailGP with local sponsors and event partners.
  • Work alongside global comms team, and agency partners to develop and execute media distribution .
  • Develop communications plans that contribute to broader commercial and marketing objectives, i.e. event ticket sales, growth of brand awareness.
  • Develop and produce media releases, VNRs, media toolkits, briefing notes, and other press materials tailored for global distribution.
  • Coordinate and oversee media monitoring and reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Fulfill media requests and proactively pitch stories to maximise awareness of SailGP and its events, working with local communications agencies.
  • Build and maintain media contact and distribution lists.
  • End-to-end management of media events and announcements in conjunction with agency partners.
  • Travel to SailGP events and races as required



What we're looking for:

  • Relevant experience in communications, media or journalism.
  • Strong understanding of the sports media landscape in the Asia-Pacific region.
  • A natural storyteller with a sharp news sense and track record of securing impactful coverage.
  • Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to juggle multiple campaigns and deadlines.
  • A collaborative communicator who thrives in fast-paced, high-performance environments.
  • Great at building relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver results.
  • Past sports experience in sport is preferred.
  • Some international experience preferred.
  • Sydney-based preferred.
