Role overview
SailGP is seeking a dynamic Marketing Manager to lead brand growth and awareness across the Asia-Pacific region. Based in Sydney, you'll drive the development and execution of event marketing strategies across APAC markets - including campaign activations, ticketing, broadcast tune-in, digital, social and partnership initiatives.
Reporting into the Head of Marketing & Communications, APAC, this role will lead event marketing, working with, and providing direction to agencies to deliver a compelling, consistent international brand.
This role requires creativity, a digital marketeer with attention to detail and excellent project/people management skills, with experience in the development and delivery of impactful marketing strategies and campaigns.
You will be responsible for cross-functional campaigns working closely with Communications, Brand, Social, Content and Partnerships - both within the Region and across SailGP's global business - to amplify SailGP in APAC.
Key responsibilities
Audience growth & Fan engagement (year-round focus)
- Own audience profiles and insights, establishing yourself as the regional expert on fan needs, behaviors, relationship with SailGP and engagement opportunities - informing broader marketing, media and event strategies.
- Partner with the Head of Marketing & Communications to identify and create fan-first, culturally relevant experiences that authentically connect SailGP with sport, lifestyle, and entertainment communities.
- Expand beyond event marketing to drive awareness and fan acquisition through integrated campaigns that drive broadcast viewership and SailGP+ subscriptions across the Region.
- Collaborate with the Head of Marketing & Communications to develop marketing plans, and own project management and execution to deliver against them.
- Own the shape of the fan journey and focus our efforts on achieving maximum positive impact at every stage
Event marketing & campaign management
- Lead end-to-end event marketing campaigns across APAC, driving fan engagement, audience growth, and achieving KPIs such as ticket sales, awareness and engagement.
- Develop and manage a digital-first marketing toolkit and creative assets to support local teams and amplify messaging through stakeholders, media and partnerships.
- Provide creative leadership (in partnership with design and video teams) to deliver high-performing, insight-led creative assets tailored to regional audiences. Ensure briefs are in clear objectives and creative inspiration to drive the most engaging output.
- Work closely with the Social & paid media team to run campaigns across social, email and content marketing, to maximise ticketing and fan acquisition outcomes.
- Be creative with bringing well researched activation ideas to partners & key stakeholders, which support our growth strategy and aim to deliver world-class fan experiences.
- Maintain post-event buzz through strategic activations and targeted campaigns that deepen fan engagement and fuel ongoing advocacy for SailGP.
-
Lead onsite marketing delivery during event weeks, ensuring brand consistency, partner activation support, content capture coordination and realtime campaign optimisation.
Ticketing promotion
- Support ticket launches and sales leading up to each event with relevant plans, campaigns and creatives to drive awareness and conversion.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop persuasive and informative content for ticketing promotions across various channels, including social media, paid digital, email, website and print materials.
- Analyse the performance of ticketing campaigns, working closely with the social, content and paid media team to optimise results.
- Support the Ticketing team by providing regular insights, learnings and recommendations for future events, highlighting successes and areas for improvement.
- Apply historical insights from previous seasons (repeat cities) to strengthen future planning, ensuring each campaign builds on past learnings and market-specific nuances.
Reporting & Analysis
- Deliver weekly media reporting, contribute to monthly marketing reports, and post-event wrap reports that capture insights and drive ongoing campaign optimisation.
- Work with the Head of Marketing & Communications on the budget process to ensure efficient, impact-driven allocation across channels and initiatives.
- Track spend, raise POs, reconcile invoices and ensure all activity is within budget.
- Analysing customer data, identifying target audiences and creating segmented campaigns for different customer groups.
- Tracking KPIs, analysing data to identify trends and insights as well as provide regular reporting across all marketing campaigns and channels.
