The Opportunity

Play a pivotal role at the centre of significant business transformation. As our Technical Accountant, you will provide specialist accounting expertise to support complex transactions, business restructuring and integration activity across the Group. This role focuses on ensuring appropriate accounting treatment, clear financial outcomes and alignment between commercial intent and accounting delivery.

Supporting a major merger initiative, you will work across transaction execution, completion and integration to assess accounting implications and support implementation of outcomes. You will partner closely with Finance, Actuarial, Legal and HR to interpret transaction structures and legal agreements, translating these into clear accounting positions, financial impacts and practical implementation requirements.

This is a highly visible role where you will support board materials, completion activities and integration planning to ensure outcomes are robust, controlled and aligned.

How will you make an impact?

Provide technical accounting advice across transactions and restructuring activity, including purchase accounting and balance sheet impacts

Support the preparation and review of completion accounts and key financial adjustments

Interpret transaction structures and assess accounting implications across entities

Partner with Legal to review and inform agreements to support appropriate accounting outcomes

Ensure alignment between any contractual terms and accounting treatment

Support integration activity by identifying accounting impacts, data requirements and reporting implications

Partner across Finance and Actuarial teams to align accounting outcomes to commercial intent

Identify risks, gaps or misalignment in proposed structures and outcomes

Support the preparation of board materials, clearly articulating accounting implications and key judgements

Document accounting positions, assumptions and rationale to support governance and audit requirements

About you
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following:

Strong analytical capability, with the ability to interpret complex accounting and commercial issues

Clear and concise communication skills, with the ability to simplify technical concepts

Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment

High attention to detail, with sound judgement on material issues

Strong stakeholder management skills across multiple functions

Solid understanding of IFRS, including acquisition and restructuring accounting

Experience interpreting legal agreements and assessing accounting outcomes

Understanding of completion processes and financial close impacts

Ability to translate accounting requirements into practical business and financial outcomes

Experience in financial services (life insurance highly regarded)

Experience supporting transactions, restructures or integration activity

Exposure to completion accounts and financial close processes

Experience working with Legal, HR and external advisors

Experience preparing governance or board materials

CA or CPA qualification
