The Nepean Blue Mountains Health District offers a wide range of Medical Imaging (Radiology), Nuclear Medicine, and Nuclear Medical Therapy procedures through our various facilities/services with a goal to help diagnose, assess, and treat patient's injury or disease.

Nepean Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Medical Physics Specialist - Radiology to join our dynamic Medical Imaging team. In this role, you will provide expert scientific and technical support to ensure the safe and effective use of ionising radiation across diagnostic imaging services, contributing to quality assurance programs, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. You will work collaboratively with radiologists, radiographers, and multidisciplinary teams to optimise imaging performance, enhance patient safety, and support the delivery of high-quality care within a busy tertiary hospital environment.

What you will bring to the role

  1. Meets eligibility requirements for Australasian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine (ACPSEM) Registration in Diagnostic Imaging Medical Physics (DIMP - Radiology), or such other accreditation body acceptable to the Secretary, Ministry of Health.
  2. Demonstrated organisational skills and ability to work independently with a high level of productivity to deliver outcomes within agreed timeframes.
  3. Eligible to hold a current NSW EPA license IA17 to use ionising radiation apparatus
  4. Demonstrated clinical experience in diagnostic imaging medical physics in a clinical environment.
  5. Demonstrated supervisory and educational skills
  6. Experience in commissioning, acceptance testing and routine EPA compliance testing for the full range of modalities in diagnostic and interventional radiology.
  7. Demonstrated high level communication and organisational skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues, patients and members of the public on radiation issues; including the ability to analyse and compile comprehensive written reports on radiation safety matters.
  8. Evidence of initiative and ability to prioritise amongst competing service requirements, and willing to work flexible work hours (early or late) at times, as required and has a willingness to travel to other sites for work purposes.
