The Role

The Clinical Support Officer (CSO) is expected to provide timely and accurate administrative/transactional services for members of the healthcare team under the direction of the NUM. The CSO works under broad supervision, however is required to take some independent action. Scope exists for exercising initiative in the application of established work practices and procedures. Decisions affecting the overall functioning and management of the unit remain the responsibility to the NUM. The CSO supports the work activities of the NUM.

Selection Criteria

  1. Holds or is willing to undertake a Certificate III in Health Administration or equivalent or a combination of study and previous experience in a similar role.
  2. Excellent communications skills including accurate spelling, good comprehension, confidence in the spoken word and ability to deal confidently and courteously with people at all levels.
  3. Demonstrated experience in word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
  4. Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise, work and meet deadlines.
  5. Capacity to work under broad supervision and to undertake a diverse range of tasks as an effective member of a team in high pressure, high volume work environment.
  6. Ability to initiate tasks and work unsupervised.
  7. Demonstrated recent administration experience in an acute care facility.
