The Role

Provide a high-level speciality support for the management of both Wardsperson and Mortuary Services to support the efficient and effective operation of St George Hospital (SGH) to achieve business and service objectives. Lead and manage operations of the Wardspersons as well as Mortuary staff to facilitate delivery of quality, cost effective services and the achievement of business and service objectives.

This role is responsible for the management and coordination of the Wardsperson patient support and Mortuary services at St George Hospital. The Wardspersons team members provide day to day assistance to clinical staff throughout the hospital, and transport/transfer patients across the hospital campus in a reliable, courteous, and efficient manner. The SGH Mortuary provides a range of operational procedures including body management, equipment and facility procedures, inter-agency collaboration, family viewings, ethical and legal compliance, security of deceased bodies and timely release of bodies.

The position is integral in ensuring a high standard service is delivered across all clinical areas. The Manager Wardsperson and Mortuary Services will liaise operationally with the Nursing Executive Support Manager, and the Deputy Director Medical Services as needed for resolution of operational issues as they arise.

Selection Criteria
  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in management or relevant equivalent work experience, or a combination of study and work experience within the specialty field/s
  2. Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills with a strong customer service approach
  3. Demonstrated leadership skills to enhance staff performance, influence workplace culture and lead change.
  4. Demonstrated high level analytical and problem-solving skills that lead to the development of innovative solutions to meet workplace needs
  5. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with senior management and other key stakeholders
  6. Demonstrated ability to provide input, interpret, monitor, and evaluate policies, procedures and standards
  7. Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt work practices to meet current and emerging business needs
