Service Desk Engineer (Part-time)
Our IT team is the engine behind Quantium's global operations - ensuring our team of data scientists, analysts, consultants and engineers have the tools and technology they need to deliver exceptional outcomes for our clients. As a Service Desk Engineer in our Melbourne office, you will be the on-site IT presence for our Melbourne team three days per week, delivering hands-on technical support with a high degree of independence in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
This is a part-time role, working 3 days per week on-site at our Melbourne office (schedule to be agreed with the hiring manager).
How will you make an impact?
- Independent on-site IT support: Serve as the primary on-site IT presence for Quantium's Melbourne team, independently resolving hardware, software and connectivity issues with confidence
- Hardware management: Manage laptop re-imaging, stock and asset management to keep our team equipped and productive
- Account and identity management: Handle account provisioning, resets and identity tasks to keep our team connected and secure
- Remote collaboration: Partner with our Sydney-based senior IT team and India-based support team via Slack and Zoom to tackle complex technical challenges and escalate effectively when needed
- Continuous improvement: Contribute to the development of IT support processes and knowledge sharing across the broader IT team
The superpowers you'll be bringing to the team
- Technical foundation: 2-4 years of IT support experience within an internal team at a tech-forward or tech-adjacent company - you're comfortable handling complex on-site issues without a senior colleague on-site
- Multi-platform proficiency: Hands-on experience supporting both Mac and Windows environments
- Networking basics: Comfortable troubleshooting connectivity issues and supporting users with network problems at the desk
- Independent operator: A self-sufficient approach to problem-solving - you're confident making decisions on the ground and know when and how to escalate remotely to the Sydney team
- Customer-first approach: Strong interpersonal skills with a patient, professional approach to face-to-face support - our users are technically savvy, so you will need to be too
- AV and conferencing support: Experience setting up and troubleshooting audiovisual equipment and video conferencing hardware (e.g. room displays, cameras, Zoom or Teams Rooms setups) is highly regarded
Remember - you might not tick all the boxes, but don't let that stop you applying. We're more interested in how you work, your ability to solve problems and your approach to supporting people.
